Since January, the state's department of health says flu-related hospitalizations have tripled.

The health department says even if you've already had the flu this season the strain is often different at the end of the season so you're still at risk.

More than 25,000 flu shots were administered by Lambton Public Health, health-care providers and pharmacies during the last flu season from November 2015 to April 2016.

Almost 17-hundred people have been hospitalized statewide, including 391 in Tulsa County, which leads all other counties in flu fatalities and the number of flu-related hospitalizations.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to this child's family." said Anne Thomas, Interim Halifax County Health Director.

Last month, the Centers for Disease Control and prevention said the flu was widespread in the state.

Dave Chappelle's Netflix Specials Just Got a Teaser Trailer and Release Date
Now, he's announced the release date for two Netflix stand-up specials, his first since 2004's What It's Worth . Chappelle earlier this year signed a deal with Netflix for three stand-up specials in total.

The health department says flu vaccine supply is good this year. School nurses locally have been reaching out to the health district expressing concerns about increases in the number of students reporting flu-like illnesses.

The county says while children under six months old can not get a flu shot, there are other ways to protect them.

The systems said they are encouraging anyone age 13 and older experiencing runny nose, sore throat, fever or cough to not visit patients. Stay home and go to a physician right away if symptoms persist.

For those who have not been vaccinated yet, Savage said it is not too late to get the flu shot.

OH is not the only state with a flu situation officially deemed "widespread".
