As Ed Sheeran's new music takes over the charts across the world this week, the singer-songwriter is on track to claim the "double" on home soil as he charges to Number 1 on the Official UK Albums and Singles Chart with bumper sales. According to the Official Charts Company, Sheeran's third studio record has moved 432,000 copies and sits comfortably at No. 1 on the Chart Update. The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker's third album is on course to become the biggest-selling album of 2016 with sky-rocketing first-week sales. In fact, in one-day ÷ has already sold more than Ed's previous album x (Multiply) sold in its first week.

It's not so much a case of whether Ed Sheeran's Divide (Asylum) can take the United Kingdom chart crown.

The most popular format for the LP is physical, Billboard reports, with sales for CD and vinyl at 63 per cent, while digital accounts for 31 per cent of sales and streaming making up the remainder. Divide shifted 232,000 copies in its first day which makes it a likely contender to surpass Adele's 25 and Oasis's Be Here Now with 800,000 each.

He then proceeded to cite a letter Sessions sent to the committee Monday supplementing his testimony but not admitting fault. Sessions can not confirm the investigation he recused himself from exists or will exist in the future.

÷ smashed the Spotify record for the most-streamed album in a single day - notching up 56.7 million streams on its day of release. In our review, we wrote: "Sheeran meant for this album to be huge, and it will be". No other album, new or old, has even sold 200K since the year began more than two months ago.

Spotify's United Kingdom chart shows Ed Sheeran occupying the top 16 positions. "That's a big f--ing feat because her last album sold 20 million", he recently told GQ.
