No, Planned Parenthood STILL doesn't use federal funds for abortions

House Speaker Paul Ryan, of Janesville, has said that other providers could provide services other than abortions that are offered by Planned Parenthood.

Trump, who in 1999 declared himself "very pro-choice", said during the presidential campaign a year ago that he had evolved on the issue and abortions should be banned except in instances of rape or incest of the woman. While abortions make up only 3 percent of the organization's services, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards said "we just simply won't turn our backs on American women".

Republicans argue that federal funds going to Planned Parenthood for other services, such as cancer screenings, birth control, sexually transmitted disease screenings, and more, free up the clinic's unrestricted dollars to be used for abortions. "Polling shows the majority of Americans oppose public funding for abortion, even those who identify as pro-choice".

The bill, called the American Health Care Act, which was introduced Monday, would keep the ACA's policy regarding pre-existing conditions and allow children to remain on their parents' insurance until they turn 26. They are women in rural America who felt lumps in their breasts, and Planned Parenthood was the only place they could get quick, affordable, urgently needed care.

"The last thing we want to do with this bill is prevent women from being able to receive services", said state Rep. John Blanton, R-Salyersville. Trump stated that he plans to increase the amount of funding given to health organizations that provide vital health services like cancer screenings.

It is clear that Republicans in Congress and the White House are anxious about the political fallout of attacking Planned Parenthood.

They are just a fraction of the 1 in 5 women in this country who have relied on Planned Parenthood for preventative services, treatment, and, yes, abortion. Planned Parenthood spokespersons said the videos were edited deceptively to make Planned Parenthood employees look cruel, and James O'Keefe - the man behind numerous recordings - had been caught sharing misleading footage before.

Of the $500 million that Planned Parenthood receives from the federal government none of it - zero - is permitted to be used for abortions.

In renewing the group's commitment to women's choice, Planned Parenthood is now at risk of losing a significant portion of its operating budget, as do other providers of women's reproductive care, thanks to a provision tucked into the GOP's healthcare plan. This is why learning how to donate to Planned Parenthood is more important now than ever - because the organization's federal funding is very much at risk right now. They didn't offer to do this because then the abortion corporation would have to act like a real business without subsidies from the government.
