The gunman killed the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office deputy outside a barbershop when the deputy came to investigate a domestic call, reports WJTV.

Louisiana State Police identified the victim as Raymond Hawthorne, 43, of Donaldsonville.

"Our hearts are broken as we grieve for one of our brothers", Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said.
