"That wasn't planned, I had no idea", Adele is quoted by Nine News as saying after the show.

Superstar Adele is a huge fan of long-time Australian soap Neighbours.

However, during one of her Sydney shows, it was a brief meeting with a fan that stole headlines, not her dress.

But her spectacular dressing down of an overzealous security guard was as memorable as the music for her fans.

But, the singer admitted she'd fallen asleep that afternoon and hadn't had a chance to write the letters this time.

During the last show of her Australian tour, Adele randomly plucked an audience member by the name of Chris from the crowd and asked him to join her on stage.

The Swedish striker went on to speak about the importance of being happy at a club, recalling fond memories from his time at AC Milan.

Adele telling security to stop telling people to sit down. "If I see one more person being told to sit down, I swear to God..."

But after emergency services took 30 minutes to arrive, her sister tearfully explained they were anxious she wouldn't make it.

Last night in Melbourne, more than 77,000 Adele fans were reminded of exactly that, after a man proposed to his boyfriend right there on stage.

When Chris said "yes", the crowd erupted into applause and the newly engaged couple kissed and were embraced by Adele.

Afterwards, Adele said she did not know that a proposal was coming. "So that was unplanned, I had no idea there, Chris".

Those record crowds took home some golden memories which, thanks to the wonders of technology, were captured and shared on social media for the rest of the world to gawp at.
