McDonald's is ditching frozen beef for fresh in its Quarter Pounders

Here's the beef: McDonald's is to start using fresh beef in its quarter pounders, rather than frozen patties.

McDonald's upgrade to their Quarter Pounders, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, is an apparent effort from the McDonald's Corp.to attract more customers and improve its struggling US business.

McDonald's in January reported slightly lower fourth-quarter earnings, with a drop in comparable sales in the USA offset by gains in foreign markets, including China, Japan and some Latin American countries.

McDonald's has recently promised to use cage-free eggs and abide by stricter antibiotics policies.

"We are committed to transforming more aspects of our business, including offering a more modern and enjoyable dining experience, adding new levels of convenience and technology, and making more positive changes to the food we serve", said Steve Easterbrook, the CEO of McDonald's.

McDonald's Corp. (MCD) announced one of its biggest menu changes on Thursday. The move is an acknowledgment of changing public perception about the preparation of fast food.

However, the latest switch, to fresh beef, is now only for the Quarter Pounder. HABT, Shake Shack Inc. It even joked about the similarities between Wendy and the comic book character Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad with a user.

McDonald's shares have gained 12.1% over the past six months outpacing the 2.1% growth witnessed by the Zacks categorized Retail-Restaurants industry.

The infamous golden arches burger joint announced on Thursday that it would be providing fresh beef to its' Quarter Pounder burger by 2018. He did not give a timeline for when other McDonald's burgers would make the switch. He believes the move to fresh beef will likely drive more people to the Golden Arches and help boost its image slightly. "They've been testing fresh beef in some markets but they're really not doing it with full commitment".
