Indeed, the multi-billion dollar border wall would traverse through many houses and other landmarks, with some American homes ending up in Mexico and some Mexican ones ending up in America, such as a Texas Trump supporter whose home will be on the Mexico side of the border wall once it is built, according to Raw Story. It has been estimated the massive barrier could cost some $21 billion over almost four years.

He submitted designs for a concrete wall and a wall made of other materials, using strong materials to protect the barrier from a vehicle bomb or suicide vest.

Manatts, a Johnston, Iowa-based contractor, proposed using the wall as an opportunity for engraving - from memorials to family trees - to pay for the wall. So National Consulting Service has proposed building a monorail along the border.

Bidders are also asked to submit security plans and demonstrate experience "executing high-profile, high-visibility and politically contentious" projects. Also, the structure can not interfere with cross-border waterways, including the Rio Grande River, under a 1947 treaty with Mexico.

A US official with knowledge of the plans who spoke on condition of anonymity because the details haven't been made public said four to 10 bidders are expected to be chosen to build prototypes. But they don't want people on the other side to see them. "This is the biggest project on the planet", said Evangelista-Ysasaga. "The last time anybody tried anything like this was in China" - a task that took centuries to complete to prevent the incursion of barbarian nomads.

In addition to political concerns, companies interested in working on the wall face potential legal challenges, as well.

The request for bids from Customs and Border Protection called for companies that could design and build a "solid concrete wall", as well as a separate bid called for wall prototypes made of different materials. "The wall. A physical barrier".

Michael Evangelista-Ysasaga, CEO of the Penna Group, speaks to the aesthetics of the USA -facing side of the wall, telling NPR "the wire mesh panels will be emblazoned with the Seal of the United States".

Beyond that, the department is looking for ideas.

Earlier this week, representatives from the San Diego sheriff's office and police department stated they would respect the First Amendment rights of protesters to peacefully assemble.

"The President has told me, Kelly go do it", Kelly said.

During the hearing, several officials testified that a true "wall" across the full border is not necessary or realistic and that barrier will instead be a combination of wall, fencing, electronic surveillance and personnel.

"I think the government will step up to the plate and provide security, if not we as a company will provide it for our workers", Holley said.

Still, at least 200 companies submitted proposals by Tuesday's deadline.

"Next time you do a travel ban, how about thinking it through", McCain said.

"Nobody wants to hear about a kid dying on the wall", he said. "We're looking very hard at ports of entry which is not part of 'the wall, '" he said.
