Delta cancels flights for third day after storm hits Atlanta

Delta canceled almost 3,000 flights this week for weather related issues.

The No. 2 U.S. airline said it had canceled around 3,000 flights in the wake of Wednesday's storms that left passengers stranded and frustrated during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year.

But the airline also warned that heavy spring break travel means there are few open seats for rebookings, leaving limited options for passengers of cancelled flights.

"Delta continues to position aircraft and flight crews Friday following the impact of severe weather in Atlanta, the mid-Atlantic region and the Northeast this week".

Delta Air Lines offered to waive the change fee for those whose rescheduled travel occurs beyond April 7, with difference in face under consideration, WeARTV reports.

"What's really frustrating is that there was an American Airline flight that I could have gotten on, to Indianapolis".

Bad weather diverted about 250 passengers headed to Atlanta to Memphis International Wednesday night and left many more who showed up at the airport this morning to fly south out of luck.

The Federal Aviation Administration, Delta and Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport advised travelers to check their flight status to find out if theirs is affected by the storms.

As of 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, no other departing flights from TLH have been delayed.

So he said he'll rent a vehicle and drive to Indianapolis.

One Twitter user said they were stranded in Nashville for more than two hours and thanked the company for the gesture.

Delta's Chief Operating Officer Gil West apologized to customers for the delays and cancels on Thursday adding that Delta's recovery from the storms has not been ideal.

He's talking about how Delta is handling a backlog of flights.

"It's always busy, but I have never seen this airport like this", Saghian said.
