April the giraffe's, 'baby is kicking, just not coming out!'

"Keep April and our team in your positive thoughts", the park said on Facebook. I don't know who won and I couldn't even begin to make a predictive bracket for any sport. "Tonight I chose to have a littel pep talk with April to see if we could try to nail down a day, week, month or any sort of time frame. In this photo she is pretty much telling us what she thinks about that plan".

Exactly one week after her keepers excitedly declared that the birth of her calf was imminent - after hundreds of thousands of people locked eyes on a live stream from her pen as naysayers theorized that it was all just a hoax - April the giraffe is still gestating. This is Oliver's first calf, but April knows the drill - this will be her fourth.

The park's live stream was interrupted briefly when YouTube pulled the feed after someone reported the images contained explicit material and nudity.

It appears April has always had a loving, motherly side to her, although that was hardly in question.

Zookeepers said April has consumed all of last evening's grain offering, and continues to eat her hay. The zoo said the calf was doing well, but would not be on public display until late May. After the calf grows, it will be moved to another facility.

"We can not retain offspring, as it would lead to incestuous mating and undermine the genetics of the program and species", the zoo says.

"Conspiracy theory: What if the giraffe isn't pregnant and it's just an APRIL fools prank", one naysayer wrote on Twitter.

The sun is shining brightly at Animal Adventure Park Sunday morning, and that means April and Oliver will be getting some outdoor time. April the giraffe was expected to give birth in mid-February but has extended for more than a month.

The Animal Adventure Park in upstate NY went live on April the Giraffe on February 23 with news that the now-famous giraffe would be giving birth to a precious calf at any moment.

It's been more than a month since the park shared the news of April's impending birth with the world, via social media. This is the zoo's first giraffe calf.

Fear not, she's not the only giraffe who's been pregnant recently!

I've learned that giraffes sleep standing up and only sleep about two hours a day - just like me these days while I and a few million others are glued to our screens watching for this newest giraffe to arrive.

A giraffe calf is typically six feet tall and weighs between 100 and 150 pounds at birth.
