Kicker Becca Longo makes history by signing with Division II Adams State

The Arizona native, who attends Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona, made 35 out of 38 extra point attempts this season. At that point she was visited by the Josh Blankenship, offensive coordinator for Adams State, and said he fell in love with the player.

The head coach of the Adams State football program is former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Timm Rosenbach, and he didn't blink twice about the possibility of offering a female a football scholarship. And in Division II, Rosenbach said, prospective student athletes can work out on campus. She has a strong leg, and she can be very accurate, ' Rosenbach told the Arizona Republic. Surrounded by other athletes from her school who were accepting their scholarship offers, the event's emcee singled her out and announced that the 18-year-old was believed to be the first woman to ever get an offer from a D-II school or above. Longo will join the university's football team as a kicker. "If they want to play hockey, they can go out and play hockey", Longo said today on "Good Morning America".

She will also play basketball at the university in Alamosa, Colo.

The Grizzlies return sophomore kicker Eduardo Majalca and also signed kicker Tiago Paim to their roster this year. "I didn't really expect to play after high school until sort of the middle of my senior season, which is kind of late".

During the season, Longo reached out to Adams State, but didn't hear back.
