Concerned about White House infighting, Trump eyes shake-up

Mr Bannon, Presdient Donald Trump's chief strategist, and Mr Kushner, the president's adviser and son-in-law, met at the urging of White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, who asked them to set aside their disagreements and focus on pursuing the president's agenda, according to an administration official. A photo released by the White House shows 15 top Cabinet officials and advisers around a small table for a briefing on results of the strike.

Bannon's position lost out to those inside the White House, including Jared Kushner, who argued Trump needed to punish the Assad regime.

Bannon, a far-right Republican and former Brietbart News executive, has been at odds with Kushner, a former real estate developer and Democratic donor. This past week, Trump removed him from the National Security Council, reversing his decision to give Bannon access to the group's high-level meetings.

"He wants people with differing views among the spokes."Bill Daley, a former White House chief of staff to President Barack Obama, who got pushed out in a shakeup himself after roughly a year into the job, said it appears that inside the Trump White House there's a struggle for "the soul and brain of the president". While foreign policy experts cautioned that move alone wasn't enough to assume Bannon's role was diminished, given his continued access to the President, the rumor mill that has Bannon on the outs kicked into overdrive over the past 48 hours. Earlier in the week, there were numerous reports that Bannon was this close to leaving.

In the White House blame game, no one is safe.

Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, also one of his chief advisers, has been working in global relations as well, drawing criticism because of his lack of government experience. While the America First message arguably was President Trump's biggest boost during the primary and general election, it seems to be becoming a mere afterthought at this point.

Bannon called reports that he was ready to quit "100 percent nonsense."

France into Davis Cup semis after doubles win vs. Britain
This is a great team but it would be nice to have players who are joining these guys on tour, sitting around 75, even 125, 150. The Frenchman took an immediate 2-0 lead, but Edmund levelled, and they headed to tie-break, where the Briton took a 5-2 lead.

Kushner, who has no foreign policy or military experience, has been tasked with several important issues for the Trump administration such as Middle East peace and liaison to both China and Mexico.

The decision was made just ahead of Trump's dinner with Xi.

Cohn, Kushner and Deputy National Security Adviser Dina Powell have been labeled the White House's "Democrats" by Bannon's allies and the two sides have taken turns slinging anonymous arrows at each other in the press.

Bannon and his world view was ascendant - and he knew it.

Kushner, who played a major role in the presidential campaign, is heading an effort to overhaul the federal government and has traveled to Iraq with the Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman.

"No staff shakeups here", the official added.

"I think we've had one of the most successful 13 weeks in the history of the presidency", he said.
