Police say a customer at a North Texas sports bar fatally shot a man who had just killed the restaurant's manager to "prevent further loss of life".

Police responded to an active shooting call at the Zona Caliente Sports Bar in South Arlington around 6pm. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, who have not named them.

Cook said a man walked into the sports bar and confronted the manager.

Christopher Cook says the two people have been shot and killed in this incident. Jones has been identified as first shooter.

"This customer was armed with a handgun and engaged the shooter by firing his weapon towards the suspect, striking him", Arlington PD said in a statement.

A male customer at the bar who had a concealed firearm reportedly instructed his wife to take cover.

"There was some type of altercation, things being said, and this man pulled out a gun and shot the employee and killed the employee", Cook said. Then, a customer from the other end of the bar brought out his own handgun, shooting and killing Jones.

It has yet to be confirmed what the shooter's motives were and if he and his victim knew each other.
