KKR showed why they are one of the strongest teams in this IPL when they inflicted a humiliating defeat on bottom place RCB. Narine has come out as an opener in nine matches out of KKR's 12 so far and he has scored 194 runs.

KKR began with all guns blazing with Sunil Narine and Lynn finding the runs with boundaries during the power-play overs. Despite the loss of his opening partner, Lynn continued to be aggressive and played his natural game; he collected two boundaries off the first two balls of the fifth over and then a four and a six in the sixth over.

It is to be seen till how long the experiment of using Narine as a pinch hitter succeeds for Kolkata. Also, after winning the match by Gujarat the chances of Royal Challengers Bangalore to stay in this season has also came to an end.

The pick of the KXIP bowlers was Rahul Tewatia who took 2 wickets for 18 runs from his two overs while Mohit Sharma got 2/24 from 3 overs.

Punjab still need to win their remaining two matches and hope Sunrisers Hyderabad lose their final game for them to overtake the latter as the fourth team in the play-offs. They now need to win all their remaining three matches if they wish to have any chance of making it to the knock-out stage.

A depleted Gujarat, without Andrew Tye, Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Bravo and Jason Roy, took the field, but their absence from the side didn't deter Smith, who attacked from the onset.

Thursday forecast: rain and thunderstorms through the overnight hours, high 68
The probability of thunderstorms for Wednesday in eastern Oklahoma are highest along and north of the Interstate 44 corridor. Sunday is cloudy, highs remain in the mid-60s, and there is a chance for rain in the evening and overnight.

The Gujarat Lions appeared to be crusing to victory as Dwayne Smith turned up in a dominant mood smashing 74 off 39 balls. Their opponents for Sunday, Gujarat Lions are out of the race, but the team is made a decision to play well tonight and also it is having an aim to defeat KXIP in Mohali by beating them.

But Kings XI fought its way back into the game when Tewatia scalped Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa in the tenth over and checked the flow of runs.

In today's Indian Premier League 10th edition match 49, Gautam Gambhir's KKR meets Maxwell's KXIP at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

Wriddhiman Saha (38) and skipper Glenn Maxwell (44) gave the innings some much needed impetus before both fell prey to Kuldeep Yadav (2/34).

Hashim Amla became only the third player after Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle to score more than one century in an IPL season but his effort was in vain.
