Toronto Blue Jays vs. Seattle Mariners

Whether he's back in uniform at the Rogers Centre on Wednesday remains to be seen, but the way this season has gone so far, best not hold your breath.

"I thought Carrasco was tremendous", Indians manager Terry Francona said. "Not all of them were but when I was disciplined on getting it down, that was important for me".

The Blue Jays beleaguered lineup, already decimated by injuries to Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki and Russell Martin, suffered another blow Tuesday night when Kendrys Morales was removed from the game due to hamstring tightness.

Predictably, the Jays inability to generate offence without so many of its prominent bats was exposed in another frustrating outing, as they managed just three hits off Indians starter Carlos Carrasco, who was spectacular. Bautista beat up on a third-inning offering from Mariners pitcher Christian Bergman, who was making his first career start, pulling it high and hard off the left-field foul pole to give the Jays a 3-0 lead.

While he's not officially out, the potential loss of Morales is yet another piling on blow.

"He says: 'We started out 12-24, "' Gibbons said, leaning back in the leather chair of his office in the Jays clubhouse on Friday afternoon.

It would be nice to see his OBP go up a little bit relative to his batting average, but there's nothing wrong with the production he's provided. Only twice before in their previous 40 years did they use nine or more starters in their first 40 games: nine in 1995, and 10 in their inaugural 1977 season.

With an offence that has been neutered by injury and the ice-cold bat of Jose Bautista, the Jays are going to be all-out just to play.500 ball until some of the wounded return.

"Every time I need to throw my changeup or slider down, I leave it right in the middle". I mean, we still have a crappy record. "You guys can still do it ... the only problem is we fired Jimy Williams'". I had to do a double take to one: make sure it was actually 7-7, and two, to discover it was only the fifth inning. After a disastrous 2-11 start to the 2017 campaign, they are now just four games back of a wild card spot, entering Saturday's action. Get blown out in those and even the "it's early" crowd will have trouble keeping a chin up.

USF's LaDarrius Jackson accused of sexual assault for a second time
Jackson grabbed her, forcefully removed her clothing against her will and committed sexual battery, authorities said. Jackson was released from county jail on a $9,500 bond less than an hour after he was booked Wednesday afternoon.

In his Mariners debut Sunday against the Texas Rangers, Bergman allowed one run, one hit, one walk and one hit batter while striking out two in 3 2/3 innings of relief. "Walked two guys and it cost me two runs". One thing on his mind is weighted balls. "When you do, it bites you in the butt". Take Friday night's game for example, as Darwin Barney, Ryan Goins, Kevin Pillar and Ezequiel Carrera each contributed a pair of hits for the Jays on route to a 4-0 victory.

The Cleveland Indians had one great performance against the Toronto Blue Jays, but were unable to win the series in the ALCS rematch.

How dominant was Carrasco?

"He's always been tough on us", Gibbons said of Carrasco. He's got the stuff.

As efficient as Bolsinger was in his start, the Jays were undone by bases on balls. The Mariners were 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

The early answer was - not good - Liriano gave up a walk, a single and then a double before recording his first out, spotting Cleveland to a 2-0 lead. Those two cashed after a hit from Lonnie Chisenhall.

Dominic Leone was brought in to face Valencia with two out.

De Jong (0-3) allowed six runs in five innings.

Toronto scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the eighth.
