Xiaomi expects to double the number of smartphones it sells in India in 2017, backed by demand for its latest Redmi Note 4, which has dethroned a Samsung phone as the top selling device in the country in the March quarter, the Chinese company's India head said.

Xiaomi's new Redmi 4 series will be competing against Lenovo K5 Plus, K6 Power, Moto E3 Power and recently launched 5.5-inch Asus Zenfone Go, among others.

The Redmi 4 Prime on the other hand sports a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, and is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

Along with the Redmi 4, Xiaomi also launched the Mi Router 3C in India. On the back of the phone is a 13MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and Phase Detection Auto Focus technology.

The Mi Router 3c is priced at Rs. 1199 and it will be available at the Mi Home store from May 20th.

"With wonderful smart features and a game-changing price, Mi Router 3C is set to disrupt the router market in India". The phone has 4100mAh battery which the company claims can last two days of heavy usage on a charge.

Its connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, 3G, HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, NFC, GLONASS, Bluetooth, Infrared sensor and Micro-USB.

Additionally, the phone also has sensors like Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.

As for the Mi Router 3C, the device will set buyers back by Rs 1199. "Each of our Redmi devices have redefined the affordable smartphone segment in India, and we believe Redmi 4 too will meet the expectations of Mi Fans users who want high quality devices at an affordable price". The router uses the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n and IEEE 802.3/3u wireless standards and can connect up to 64 devices at a given time. This device will be available for sale on Amazon and Mi.com starting from May 23, 12 PM.
