When you're going through your photos and videos in your Google Photos, you sometimes want to remove several from your timeline for one reason or another, but you don't want to delete them totally. Google has now added an "Archive" feature to its Photos app that allows users to take out certain pictures from their image feed and place in a separate section inside the app.

This feature is called 'Suggested Sharing' and has already started making its way to a handful of users - or at least Google Photos has started preparing for the roll out of the said feature soon enough. This view basically replicates the main photos view and has the option to archive photos in bulk in the top right corner.

The only advantage of the "Archive" functionality is that the archived images won't be shown in the image feed. I also have access to the feature on iOS and the web.

Mind you, when searching for images or scrolling through your albums, you'll still see archived pictures and videos appear so they're not exactly hidden.

Recently, Instagram also rolled out a similar feature for users, which helps them to cover up the pictures, instead of deleting them. Next, tap on the menu button Archive. Users will now see a new option above Trash that says Archive.

To archive, an item in Google Photos, open the app and select one or more items. Users will also be able to choose an archived photo/video and share it on their profile again.
