According to the current operational theory of Japanese investigators, the deadly collision between USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62) and the Philippine-flagged merchant ship ACX Crystal knocked out the destroyer's communications for an hour, while the four-times-larger merchant ship was unaware of what it hit until it doubled back and found the damaged warship, two sources familiar with the ongoing Japanese investigation told USNI News on Wednesday. Experts generally agree th.

The cousin of a U.S. Navy sailor from OH says the 37-year-old man was three months shy of retiring when he was killed this weekend in a collision between a destroyer and a container ship off Japan.

Rear Admiral Brian Fort has been appointed to lead the US investigation, the navy said in a statement dated Thursday.

Japanese coast guard official Takeshi Aikawa said the first distress call came from the container ship at 2:25 a.m., and it identified the other party as "a US warship".

Maritime officials and ship operators call the area a convergence zone, where ships coming from the east and west converge with others leaving Tokyo. He said the ship could have taken on more water and potentially sunk, but the crew worked well to keep the water from spreading.

Sony can't compete with the Xbox One X
Nevertheless, the current take is that VR support will be available on Xbox One X , and will be a part of Xbox's future. Some experts say £449 is too much for what is basically a more powerful version of the existing Xbox One S.

"The ACX Crystal powered out of the deviation it performed at 1:30 a.m., which was likely the impact with the USS Fitzgerald, pushing it off course while trying to free itself from being hung on the bow below the waterline", private naval analyst Steffan Watkins told the Washington Free Beacon in a report published Friday. "It's known as one of the busiest waters, where ships from different routes merge".

The Crystal is classified as a mid-size container ship part of the Asia Container Express or ACX, an Asian container shipping trade subsidiary of NYK Line, a global shipping division of Japan's Mitsubishi.

He was part of a crew of almost 300 aboard the destroyer when a Philippine-flagged container ship collided with it early Saturday. He is, according to various accounts, believed to have saved at least 20 men on board the damaged Navy vessel. The extensive damage to the vessel included three compartments, a machinery space and two of her berthing compartments for her crew of 116.

Ships heading to Tokyo have to decide whether to take a shortcut between the Izu Peninsula and Izu Oshima island, or make a bigger circle around the island, partly to avoid traffic.

The Jiji Press news agency reported that the captain of the Crystal said his ship was "sailing in the same direction as the USA destroyer and then collided". He said route decisions are up to the captains.
