Chaman DPO SSP Sajid Khan Mohmand was killed on Monday as his convoy came under attack at Eidgah Chowk area of the district.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near a security check post today killed two security personnel in restive northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border, officials said.

The injured, which mostly include police personnel, are being shifted to nearby civil hospital. An emergency was declared at government hospitals in Quetta.

Assistant Commissioner of Chaman confirmed that the blast was of suicide nature and District Police Officer Sajid Khan was the target.

Bottas and Hamilton not plotting Vettel downfall
In Q1, Jolyon Palmer ended up just on the wrong side of the cut-off in 16th for Renault - 0.029secs shy of Vandoorne and Q2. Hamilton, who had told reporters earlier that pole was the goal, is 14 points behind Vettel after eight of 20 races .

Security officials have cordoned off the site of the blast, even as reports suggest that some firing could be heard. But the remnants of militant groups are still able to carry out periodic bloody attacks, particularly in the northwest.

Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar and Balochistan home minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti also condemned the attack.

Pakistani authorities allege terrorists fleeing security operations have taken refuge in volatile border regions of Afghanistan and orchestrate the violence from there, charges the neighboring country rejects.
