RAPTORS: Three people with knowledge of the dealings told The Associated Press that the Toronto Raptors have made two trades, sending DeMarre Carroll to Brooklyn for salary cap relief and landing C.J. Miles in a sign-and-trade with in for Cory Joseph.

Toronto also signed swingman Malcolm Miller to a two-way contract and forward Alfonzo McKinnie to a multi-year deal.

The Brooklyn Nets have acquired DeMarre Carroll and draft picks in a trade with the Toronto Raptors.

The Nets identified a player who could help them in the Raptors' DeMarre Carroll, and they consummated a trade for him.

Over two seasons with Toronto, the 30-year-old averaged 9.4 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, and one assist in 98 games played.

For the Pacers, the consistent and defensively-solid Joseph fits with their plan to rebuild after trading Paul George to Oklahoma City, ESPN notes.

Anunoby is under contract through the 2018-19 season, with two team option years to follow.

If you keep up with all things Nets on Elite Sports NY, you know that the Nets desperately need a starting small forward.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the trades have not been officially announced. At a minimum, getting the 2018 first and second round picks makes this all worthwhile, earning the Nets a B+ trade grade. However, the move was more of a financially-motivated decision for Toronto.

The bottom line: It's not a major setback in the Nets' cap situation, which should be enough to reassure fans.

Losing Joseph will give Toronto's backup point guard duties to Delon Wright, who emerged last season as a capable NBAer who is just entering his third season in the league.

Toronto Raptors' DeMarre Carroll and Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo go after a loose ball during the second half of game 3 of their NBA first-round playoff series basketball game in Milwaukee on April 20, 2017. He will then become an unrestricted free agent once he clears waivers, and will be available to sign with any team that will show interest in him.

While the Nets could attempt to move salary to sign either player, it takes two teams to make a deal.
