Tillerson: US not seeking regime change in North Korea

Tillerson said he understood why Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the U.S.to drastically cut its diplomatic presence in Russia, even though the move was in retaliation for a similar US action past year under President Barack Obama. But he also suggested that Americans support the Trump administration's overtures to establish a warmer relationship with Russian Federation.

"Any leader of any country has their whole population watching them as well", Tillerson said.

In a rare question-and-answer session, Tillerson recalled Trump's meeting with Sergey Lavrov, Putin's top diplomat, three months ago.

At the same time, Tillerson added that Moscow's move would affect the US Department of State's work in Russian Federation.

United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is scheduled to visit Manila this week to participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Regional Forum, the East Asia Summit Ministerial, and the US-ASEAN Ministerial.
