Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski has revealed his delight after the Bundesliga champions won the DFL-Supercup at the expense of rivals Borussia Dortmund on Saturday night.

Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti is pleased with the club's preseason trip to Singapore and views it as a positive experience.

Robert Lewandowski believes Bayern Munich will have found their top form within "a few months" after beating Borussia Dortmund on penalties to win the DFL-Supercup following a terrible pre-season.

"I'm very glad about the victory, it is the first title", he told Bayern's official website.

"We were happy with 1-1 at the break and we played better in the second half because we were more compact and lost the ball fewer times - before it was too many ball losses and then there was too much space for our pressing [to work] because we were not compact".

"As I said, we have to be careful with him", the 53-year-old added. "When the season starts, we will be there".

Joshua Kimmich saw his spot-kick stopped by Burki, but Bayern's backup Sven Ulreich saved penalties from ex-Bayern midfielder Sebastian Rode and Marc Bartra to prove the unlikely hero for the Bavarians.

Australia's A-League announced in April that it would become the first top-level domestic league to implement the system, while Germany and Portugal are slated to test it this season.

"It was a good thing to win again, especially here in Dortmund - it is about prestige", he said.

"We should not have let this game go into a penalty shoot-out".
