In her Miranda statement, cops say Newsome told them she had picked her daughter up from her bed and put her in her truck on August 4.

Newsome, 37, was arrested on charges of concealing the body of her daughter, Kaye-lea Plummer, according to the Associated Press.

Newsome is now charged with concealing a dead human being.

ActionNewsJax adds that there is no confirmation on a cause of death, but foul play is suspected.

Donath Plummer told WJXT4, a Jacksonville, Fla., television station, that seeing his wife's mug shot made him think something had pushed Erica T. Newsome over the edge.

Newsome said in a Miranda statement that she meant to take the girl to Buffalo, N.Y., where her father lived, according to the Times.

A Florida woman was arrested after a pair of NY motorists traveling through West Virginia spotted her pulling the body of a child out of her crashed vehicle and then dragging it into the woods. There they also discovered the body of a dead child, who is reported to be Newsome's 11-year-old daughter.

Some blamed the vicious attack on wee crustaceans called isopods, or " sea lice ", but experts are trying to clear up that error. The incident comes nearly a year after a massive outbreak of tiny "sea lice" at Florida beaches .

West Virginia State Police say witnesses pointed them toward the body which they observed Newsome remove from the auto soon after the accident in Pocahontas County. Her bond was placed at $50,000.

Plummer described his wife as a "great mother" and "the only person I trusted with my child", and said he couldn't understand why she would have hurt their daughter.

Plummer said the couple married in 2007 and separated two years later. He said he hadn't seen them since Newsome moved with Kaye-lea to Jacksonville in 2014, but he would check on his daughter regularly by phone.

"I just wish I could have been there", Plummer said of his daughter. "Something is very, very wrong".

Authorities got a call around 11:20 a.m. from the shocked tourists, which prompted West Virginia State Police to visit the scene near the Virginia border. "She needs help. She really needs help".

Jacksonville authorities went to Newsome's house and found evidence of the crime there, according to the West Virginia MetroNews. Detectives of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department were headed to West Virginia Monday.
