After a Supreme Court decision disqualified him last month for concealing assets, Sharif travelled with a long cavalcade from Islamabad Wednesday.

The country's top court disqualified Sharif on July 28 following an investigation into corruption allegations against him and his family, briefly plunging the nuclear-armed nation into political uncertainty.

Shehbaz Sharif is set to be appointed as president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) after Pakistan's Election Commission asked the ruling party to replace his brother Nawaz Sharif, who was disqualified as prime minister by the Supreme Court, a senior leader has said.

Until now Begum Kulsoom Nawaz Kulsoom, who has been married to Sharif for 46 years, has largely stayed out of politics.

The election on the National Assembly seat will be held on September 17.

Former Pakistani premier Nawaz Sharif's rally through Punjab province entered its second day on Thursday, evoking a mixed response as thousands gathered to receive him at some places while the turnout in his party's stronghold of Rawalpindi was lower than expected.

He said that the gathering of the people in different areas was the testimony that Nawaz Sharif was still prime minister of the hearts of the people and he was still ruling in their hearts and minds.

Nawaz Sharif Saturday termed his disqualification from premiership as a "joke" and exuded confidence that he will be elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan for the fourth time.

Earlier, Nawaz Sharif spent the night in Gujranwala and after breakfast, he left for Lahore which is considered to be strongest hold of PML-N.

Nawaz also pledged his loyalty to the public and said that he would never betray them.

Sharif in his defence said that he would personally visit the boy's home "and try to help his family for life". "The court of the people of Pakistan has given its verdict in my favour", he said.

He said that he was ousted by 5 judges in just one minute.

"We will have to make sure that the mandate of the people is respected in future; we have to make sure no conspiracy against an elected prime minister succeeds now".

"I don't expect you to reinstate me, but I want you to support me for the betterment of this country". "Do not forget your promise and when Nawaz Sharif's message will reach to you, you all have to be with me", he urged the workers.
