Marvel's The Defenders which premieres globally tonight, August 18, 2017 at 12:01am PT, follows Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones), a quartet of singular heroes with one common goal - to save New York City. Cast as the anti-Avengers, this latest Netflix show underscores Marvel's ambitions and ability to wring value out of characters that aren't exactly household names.

We know the four heroes don't begin off the bat as friends. will these two powerful heroes be able to settle their differences and get along? The series is, and was only ever, meant for people who've been following the saga from the beginning - so why waste so much screen time on labourious, drawn-out scene setting? Weaver's casting is ideal for the role, bringing gravitas and menace to a character who is also desperately vulnerable in ways we won't spoil.

It's Morning Radio Personality Trish Walker! Jessica Jones isn't exactly what you would call a team player. Maybe they should go back there to look for ideas to improve The Defenders' inevitable Season 2.
