Chicago Bears wide receiver Cam Meredith was carted off the field in the first quarter Sunday's preseason game with a torn ACL, according to Pam Oliver on the FOX broadcast.

That's a devastating blow for the Bears.

The Chicago Bears' thin wide receiver corps may have gotten even thinner this weekend. The Bears recovered but it was out of the end zone, resulting in a safety and a 9-0 lead. Former first-round pick Kevin White will be forced to step up in Meredith's absence, but White has appeared in four games in two years, so he isn't exactly a safe bet.

It was a little bit hard , but I think I made it pretty okay today. The game could be better. "This is all I can say at the end".

With Meredith out, it is looking more and more like it will be another gloomy football season in Chicago.

The Bears are going to need quickness and play-making ability from Cruz, and they're going to need White to take over and be the guy they drafted him to be in order to help Mike Glennon and this offense find success without their number one receiver. He went undrafted. But he successfully transitioned from college quarterback to WR1 in the NFL.

Long-snapper Patrick Scales also sustained an apparently serious knee injury while covering on special teams, while free agent signing Prince Amukamara injured his ankle. In three games he's 34-of-48 for 354 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, raising his quarterback rating to 112.7.
