Texas Governor Greg Abbott said on Wednesday that 24,000 National Guard troops, including 10,000 from outside the state, were being deployed in Texas in the wake of Tropical Storm Harvey, and that 33 counties were now covered under a federal disaster declaration.

"By the power vested in me as the Governor of the State of Texas, I am declaring this Sunday, Sept. 3, as a Day of Prayer in Texas".

The agency also will accept refund claims from people who paid tax on clear diesel fuel purchased and used in off-highway equipment for hurricane relief and recovery efforts within declared disaster areas.

He added that Trump has told him that whatever Texas needs, it is going to get.
