Seeded five for the tournament, Cilic is the latest high profile casualty to fall in NY, despite taking the opening set 6-4 he went down 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, 6-4, hitting well over 70 unforced errors during an error-strewn match.

Cilic was left to rue double-faulting at 30-all in the eleventh game of the second set, after which Schwartzman secured a crucial break that would see him take it 7-5 and level the match at one set all.

Schwartzman progresses to the last 16 for what is now his best performance at a grand slam, the 25-year-old having also reached the third round at the French Open this year. "I think in every match I can win".

Kvitova never faced a break point Friday and raced through the first set in 26 minutes.

The result means that Simona Halep and Venus Williams have both been eliminated from contention for the world number one ranking, with Muguruza, Karolina Pliskova and Elina Svitolina the only ones still left with a chance to leave NY as the world's top-ranked female tennis player. I didn't do many mistakes.

"Obviously I'm super-excited", U.S. ninth seed Venus said.

He will take on either Lucas Pouille or Mikhail Kukushkin in the fourth round.

"I think many players are doing well this week, and they are taking the opportunities because others are injured".

The teenager is the youngest man to reach the fourth round of a grand slam in almost 20 years and looks to be heading quickly for the top of the game.

Elsewhere, Britain's hopes were ended after Kyle Edmund was forced to retire against Canadian Denis Shapovalov after picking up a neck injury during the third set.

Piyush Goyal replaces Prabhu as Railway Minister
The Railway Minister also said that the number of train accidents had come down when he was the Railway Minister. Even before reshuffle of portfolios was officially announced, Prabhu tweeted his gratitude to railway employees.

"I guess it's like an upper thoracic back problem", Edmund said". "I didn't feel like I could rotate properly". "It just seized up very quickly".

"The month of August has been absolutely life changing for me", says the Canadian.

Next up for Shapovalov is Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain, who he'll play on Sunday.

No. 17 seed Sam Querrey needed four sets to beat qualifier Radu Albot of Moldova 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.

"Everyone is improving", Cilic said. He's obviously really good.

In what has been his breakthrough year, the little Argentinian came into the tournament in fine form. It was already relatively open even before No. 1 Andy Murray withdrew before the tournament.

Querrey will play 23rd seed Mischa Zverev for a place in the quarterfinals. "I was struggling with my shots and my serve was off". Then there are the young players who might one day be major contenders, but who are breaking through earlier than expected. A quarterfinalist in 2011, Isner is always looked at as a danger in any tournament he plays thanks to his fearsome serve. I don't think I've ever won a match at night here.

"Just I don't know". "And you have a lot of youngsters coming up that are playing better". Zverev's great hands at the net will work to his advantage as he aims to oust Americans in back-to-back rounds.

The other fourth-round clash in the bottom half of the draw will be between Paolo Lorenzi and Kevin Anderson after their respective wins over Thomas Fabbiano and Coric.
