As our kennels become available when pets are adopted, we will be able to help more pets from Hurricane Harvey.

The Humane Society of Broward County is making sure its shelter animals are safe during Hurricane Irma.

"We have five dogs and 55 cats coming from the Humane Society of Key Largo on Thursday", said shelter spokeswoman Cherie Wachter.

Adoptable pets: numerous shelters in and around Houston were already full when Harvey hit.

It's not the first work the group has done with Texas either, as they have been saving dogs and cats from Texas kill shelters for a handful of years. Alboum said shelters around the country have told similar stories.

Volunteer vets with Mukwonago Animal Hospital took six for medical treatment.

"They were all surrendered because their owners lost their homes", said Diane Less of Angels for Animals.

Gauri Lankesh murder: Mumbaiites demand an impartial probe
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed alarm over the killing of Lankesh and demanded justice. Gauri was shot at her residence from "close range" as per the initial investigation of the police.

The rest of the dogs would be cleaned, fed and allowed to rest. Hannah Thompson Weeman with the Animal Ag Alliance says they're watching the developments and encouraging producers to weigh in on the farm bill.

"We'll screen them through some of our veterinarians and see what they're like temperamentally, see who's a little bit calmer, little more comfortable and get a hold of our foster homes and start sending them out to the people who have registered as foster homes", Lynn Olenik, executive director of HAWS said.

Barr said she has done research and has found out, for some reason, there are more strays in the south than they have up here, so that also made sense to get them up here, where she has a high adoption success rate. So public entities, like local governments, can be reimbursed for services they provide for pets in a disaster (for example, a pet-friendly shelter or emergency veterinary care).

"We wanted to be helpful in any way we could", she said.

For those who abandon their animals, such as chaining up their dog in a backyard without food or water, they will be issued two citations - animal cruelty and abandonment.

Financial donations are also needed, as the group will also be purchasing supplies in the US due to border laws, so you can make donations to Black Dog's Paypal account.
