The £35 million deadline day addition from Arsenal returned from England duty in mid-week to train with his new teammates for the first time at the club's Melwood training ground.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain moved to Liverpool to work with Jurgen Klopp and the former Arsenal star will get the flawless opportunity to watch the German at close quarters as he begins his Reds career on the bench.

In a twist of irony, Oxlade-Chamberlain was named on the bench for Liverpool's clash with City at the Etihad on Saturday afternoon.

In the studio ahead of the match, the Arsenal icon and Sky Sports pundit was less convinced about the 24-year-old's motivation behind leaving the Gunners.

"I can see him playing in midfield instead of Can or Wijnaldum - but I am intrigued to see if Jurgen Klopp can make him the complete player", Keown told the Mail.

With that in mind, Sportsmail assesses where Oxlade-Chamberlain can break into Liverpool's squad.

Whether he features against City remains to be seen, though, with Klopp admitting Liverpool's new No. 21 will need time to "adapt".

And Henry is unsure what he actually brings to a team.

"Coming to Liverpool to play with the group of lads we've got, and the manager we've got, will enhance his game and take his game to another level".

"You can find out from all the players what they're not good at but normally you know what they are good at".

"France played against Holland on the last day of the transfer window".

"The thing that stood out for me was his relationship with the players, how close he seems to bond with the players on and off the field".

Yet the manager hailed that "even when he's not physically in the best shape he's still hard-working" and that in recent weeks "everything came back" and he "played brilliant football".

With Philippe Coutinho set to be reintroduced to the Liverpool fold, Klopp will have a number of options to reshape his attack if and when he rotates to avoid players feeling tired.
