Rose's round, that included four other birdies and just one bogey, handed him a share of fourth place at six-under par tally and just one behind countryman Paul Casey who carded a 67 to move into a tie for the lead at seven-under par with PGA champion, Justin Thomas who eagled his last in a 66.

Thomas was forced to play left-handed with the back of his club as he chipped out onto the fairway and he put his third shot into the rough at the left of the green.

McCarron had seven birdies and an eagle to finish his round just ahead of Bernhard Langer.

Thomas, who is chasing his sixth win of the season, shot a 4-under 66 in Round 2.

He extended his lead by hitting a tee shot over the water to a front pin on the nervy par-3 15 and making his 18-foot birdie, and then holing a 10-foot birdie on the 16.

"I've had a very good season to this point but I would like to turn it into a great one - and the way to do it would be with victory this week". In three starts at the Tour Championship he's never finished worse than fifth. Hopefully, ask me again on Sunday and I can give you the full explanation.
