Trump says he has confidence in Tillerson

Trump gave an interview to Forbes, and they asked him about the infamous report that Tillerson called Trump a "moron" and Tillerson's non-denial, so passive aggressive Donald chose to fire back. Sad!

Trump told Forbes in his interview that he did not believe Tillerson had called him a "moron", which NBC News reported he had, but that if he did, "we'll have to compare IQ tests".

In a rare public address on October 4, Tillerson denied the reports he considered resigning, but when asked point blank, didn't deny insulting Trump, though the State Dept. spokeswoman later denied it for him.

"I'm generally not going to make a lot of the appointments that would normally be - because you don't need them", Trump said.

Which made it both gratifying - and horrifying - to hear that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson thinks the president is "a fucking moron". Trump undercut him with a tweet, saying Tillerson was “wasting his time.”.

"We've made it clear that we hope to resolve this through talks", Tillerson said.

Also on Tuesday, Gingrich said it is vital for Republicans to push through tax reform legislation if they expect to win next fall's elections, and the matter is "much, much more important" than healthcare.

Status of high stakes Spain-Catalonia standoff
That raises the prospect of Spanish police arresting Puigdemont and other separatist leaders if they declare independence . Thousands of people are shutting down streets in one of Europe's biggest cities, marching with their hands painted white.

It followed a weekend where Trump appeared to undercut Tillerson's approach to diplomacy with North Korea over its intensifying nuclear weapons program.

Tillerson would find it beneath both his personal dignity and the dignity of the presidency - but he'd sign on too, as it'd be a ideal opportunity for him to exit the administration. His spokeswoman later said he never used such language.

But responding to reporters' questions during an Oval Office meeting with Henry Kissinger on Tuesday, Trump insisted, "No, I didn't undercut anybody".

Though the uneasy relationship continues, it is unlikely - for now - that Tillerson will leave, sources have told CNN, because the President and his top aides are aware of the perception that they are shedding top staff at an unnerving clip.

As for Tillerson's reported "moron" comment, the president said, "I think it's fake news". Trump claimed in one of his tweets.

Since taking office, Trump has taken a hardline position against Pyongyang, while North Korea has continued to develop its nuclear weapons and missile programs, firing intercontinental ballistic missiles that can reach US -held colonies like Guam and Micronesia, and states like Alaska and Hawaii.
