Store purchases should be integrated into the system by early 2018. "It's thinking about how we can create a more seamless shopping experience", commented Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of WalmartServices and Digital Acceleration in a statement on Monday.

Wal-Mart's new app-based returns process will expand to include in-store purchases early next year, Eckert said. "That's why we've completely transformed the process for our customers".

Refunds will be added to customer's accounts within 24 hours following the return, and there will be no need for them to send their product and wait several days for an online return to be credited.

Walmart wants to make it infinitely easier for you to return your products. The new rearranged returns process will be an accessible beginning toward the beginning of November for things sold.

The customer-facing mobile express option is expected to trim in-store returns to an average of 30 seconds.

An online retail consultant said that consumers usually consider returning bought items to stores to be a bother, though it is often necessary. Returning those items for one reason or another, not so much.

In some cases, such as with items that are damaged or which can not be resold once opened, the customer may receive a refund without actually returning the product. This decision is made at the point of logging the return in the app, so no store visit would be necessary to receive the refund. It's also rolled out curbside pickup of online grocery orders in about 1,000 of its USA stores, putting it way ahead of rival Target Corp., which only offers the service for non-perishable items in its hometown of Minneapolis. Customers will start the returns process on their phones, using Wal-Mart's app before heading to the store. To speed up its online expansion, the retail corporation is offering free two-day shipping on a minimum order of costing $35 or more. Once completed, they can go to their local Walmart store, and enter the Mobile Express Lane.

"Undoubtedly, Wal-Mart did the math and logistical mapping to arrive at the conclusion that streamlining and even encouraging in-store returns is preferable to taking them in through shipments", Spieckerman said.

Walmart is also introducing a "keep it" feature for certain goods.
