President Donald Trump will ask USA allies to pressure North Korea on its nuclear program in an upcoming trip to the Asia-Pacific region.

The diplomats, who also gathered in Tokyo on Tuesday, were expected to discuss a number of issues.

"A successful resolution of the North's nuclear problem depends heavily on close cooperation among South Korea, the US and Japan", Kang said.

In turn, DPRK officials claimed that the entire continental part of the United States was within the reach of the firepower of the North Korean army.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan, after meeting his Japanese counterpart, Shinsuke Sugiyama, told reporters that the focus at the State Department is still on diplomacy to solve the problem and eventually denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

Sugiyama, briefing reporters separately, reiterated Japan's support for President Donald Trump's policy of keeping all options open, but stressed the need for a diplomatic solution by bolstering cooperation among Japan, U.S. and South Korea, as well as via cooperation with China and Russian Federation.

"The entire US mainland is within our firing range and if the USA dares to invade our sacred territory even an inch it will not escape our severe punishment in any part of the globe", the North Korean U.N. envoy's statement said, Fox News reported. The group could try to penetrate into North Korea and, if possible, eliminate the country's leader Kim Jong-un.

The six-party talks were last held in late 2008 and North Korea went on to conduct its second nuclear test in May 2009.
