The win improves the Patriots to 6-2 on the season, while the Chargers drop to 3-5.

New England has now won four straight games.

Gostkowski would redeem himself with a 21-yard field goal with 1:08 left to play in the game to put the Patriots up 21-13. Nick Novak's kick came up well short of the goal posts, with Lawrence Guy getting an ever so slight piece of the ball at the line of scrimmage.

The Chargers jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Melvin Gordon ripped off an 87-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

The response by the Patriots was, well...more Patriot-like.

Tom Brady once again threw for over 300 yards, but just one touchdown, and the running backs were heavily involved in the passing game.

New England stalled out on its next drive, partially due to Joey Bosa's 9-yard sack of Brady to set up a third-and-long. After touching the punt at his own 11-yard line and scooping up the ball at the 8-yard line, Benjamin made a decision to run backwards to create some separation.

Overall, Hogan has played well throughout the first half of the 2017 season.

The safe guess here is that Chargers punt returner Travis Benjamin won't be repeating as AFC special teams player of the week after this game.

New England will receive the second half kickoff.
