Texas' two US senators found themselves under intense pressure Thursday after explosive allegations surfaced that a candidate both men have endorsed pursued underage teenage girls decades ago. The reports of inappropriate behavior date back to his time as an assistant district attorney.

Leigh Corfman, now 53, told the Post that she met Moore outside court in 1979 when her mother was inside for a child custody hearing after Moore offered to watch her.

"He said, 'Oh, you don't want her to go in there and hear all that. I'll stay out here with her, '" Nancy Wells, Corfman's mother, recalled to the Washington Post.

She thought: "I don't want to do this" and 'I need to get out of here'.

Corfman says that when the two were alone, Moore asked for her phone number.

"Judge Roy Moore is winning with a double-digit lead", his campaign said.

Corfman also told the newspaper she anxious she wouldn't be believed because of her background that included three divorces and a poor financial history. According to the story, she supports Republicans and voted for Donald Trump a year ago.

According to the story, Moore "told her how pretty she was and kissed her". "Please just get this over with".

She also reported that he gave her alcohol on either the first or second visit to his home. "[Luther] Strange", he said, referring to the temporarily-appointed senator whom Moore defeated in the GOP primary.

Diesel registrations fall by 30% in October
The latter - which accounts for hybrid and electric vehicles - now accounts for 5.2% of the market overall. Dealers also reported -10.1% fewer private buyers took delivery of new cars in October.

Aside from Corfman, three other women interviewed by the Post in recent weeks said Moore pursued them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s.

But she expressed clear discomfort about the physical interactions she says happened. None of those encounters progressed past kissing. Alabama's current age of consent is 16, and was also 16 in 1979, the year of the accusation. The legal drinking age in Alabama, according to the Washington Post, was 19 years of age.

Sexual contact, like that described by Corfman, with an underage person is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. Sexual contact with a minor in Alabama is considered misdemeanor sexual abuse, and luring a minor into a home for the goal of initiating sexual contact, which may also apply in this situation, is a felony.

Moore told The Post: "These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign".

His campaign also released a statement, asking why the allegations hadn't come out sooner, and calling it fake news.

"If these allegations are true, he must step aside", Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday.

He adds, "If these allegations are found to be true, Roy Moore must drop out of the Alabama special Senate election". Rob Portman, of OH said.

Polls had already shown a close race between the Republican and Democrat Doug Jones, in part because Mr Moore, who rails against Muslims and homosexuals, has alienated many moderate conservatives in the state.

Borden's attorneys attempted to get Moore to recuse himself, citing his known beliefs against homosexuality, and the fact that one of them was an ACLU attorney. He was removed from the bench for defying a federal court order to remove a granite Ten Commandments monument from a judicial building.
