Madhya Pradesh is one of the states that have been witnessing widespread protests against the film, which was earlier slated to release on December 1, 2017.

"This is ridiculous. Chouhan made this announcement even before the movie was cleared by the censor board".

Mumbai: In a major development to the ongoing "Padmavati" crisis, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has banned the Sanjay Leela Bhansali flick in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

His comment followed a meeting he had with representatives of the Rajput community on Monday morning.

"I have also gone to Chittor and returned and seen all things there..."

National Conference (NC) MLA Devender Rana urged Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to ban the release of "Padmavati" in Jammu and Kashmir, whenever it gets the go-ahead from the CBFC.

An entirety of three states has prohibited the screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's new release Padmavati.

If there are scenes breaching the honour of queen Padmavati, the movie will not be allowed to be exhibited in Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan said.

'Padmavati' postponed over threats of beheading

Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, too, has jumped on the bandwagon, by announcing that he will not let Padmavati release in the state until controversial scenes are snipped.

Amid the hue and cry, the release of the movie was also deferred, as the filmmakers submitted incomplete documents to the Central Board of Film Certifcation (CBFC). "All in the film industry must come together and protest in one voice".

The release of Padmavati has been delayed for an indefinite period.

"The Padmavati controversy is not only unfortunate but also a calculated plan of a political party to destroy the freedom to express ourselves".

Protests are a justified recourse in a democratic system, said Singh, who leads the Congress government in Punjab. "We condemn this super emergency", Banerjee tweeted.

The director was roughed up by members of the fringe group Rajput Karni Sena in Jaipur.

Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor as her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh, and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, and is based on the 1303 siege of Chittorgarh by Alauddin Khilji.

Grigor Dimitrov's talent took him to the brink of his biggest career win - but he needed more than that to get over the line. The resilience that allowed Sock to come from behind and win the first set was nowhere to be seen in the second.
