Lynch completed 59 percent of his passes for 497 yards with two touchdowns against one interception in two and a half games a year ago.

At the very least, vice president/general manager John Elway and head coach Vance Joseph will get to see if Lynch is equipped for the starting job heading into 2018.

Paxton Lynch is finally getting his chance to be QB1 in Denver, and this time, he'll have the opportunity to stay there for the foreseeable future.

"I thought at this moment for our football team moving forward, that a change was needed - going from Mike to Bill Musgrave simply because I want to have a more efficient pass game, " Joseph said Monday. Last year's first-round pick spent the majority of the year on the shelf with a shoulder injury he suffered in the preseason. Nobody does. For every player on the Broncos' roster, this is more than just a game or some Sunday entertainment, this is their livelihood and giving it everything they've got all week only to lose six in a row hurts. Lynch was a star in Memphis, showing off athleticism and a big arm. Lynch's longest completion on the day was 18 yards to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

The Broncos, having started Osweiler against the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots, will also send Lynch out against a Raiders defense that has struggled. Khalil Mack, last season's defensive player of the year, has 5.5. Defensively, the Raiders combined for a sack and a forced fumble but that was about it as the Patriots racked up 420 yards of offense in the game.

Stop me if you've heard this one before...

"It's been tough", Lynch said last week.
