Market in positive lane for 7th day

Ending in the positive territory for the seventh consecutive session, key Indian equity indices on Friday extended gains on the back of broadly positive global markets and value buying in consumer durables, oil and gas as well as IT stocks. The NSE Nifty trades at 10,383 points, 34 points, 0.33% higher than Thursday's closing.

FMCG stocks rallied the most. On NSE, 1,034 shares advanced and 731 declined, while 65 remained unchanged. The S&P BSE Sensex opened almost 82 points higher at 33,670 points while NSE Nifty50 opened at 10,367 points, almost 18 points higher than the previous session's closing.

Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 222.21 crore while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) purchased equities worth a net Rs 73.22 crore, as per provisional data.

Trump took to Twitter to brag about how great the economy is and gave a list of how well the U.S is doing. In his official Thanksgiving Proclamation, Trump also thanked all troops and veterans for their service.

The Nifty PSU index closed 1.26 percent higher after falling as much as 1.13 percent earlier in the day. Sectoral indices such as technology, IT and realty stocks climbed by up to 0.48 per cent. Positive Asian cues came as early pointers for the market.

On the other hand, the S&P BSE metal index fell by 85.35 points and basic materials index by 8.36 points.

Sector-wise, IT rose by 1.02 per cent, energy 0.83 per cent, media 0.26 per cent and pharma 0.16 per cent.
