White House's 2017 holiday theme: 'Time-Honored Traditions'

"In the article titled, "'She Didn't Want This Come Hell or High Water': "Inside Melania Trump's Secretive East Wing", writer Sarah Ellison spoke to one of Melania's friends who said that becoming first lady "isn't something she wanted and it isn't something he ever thought he'd win".

In a preview for journalists on Monday, the White House unveiled its annual holiday theme: "Time-Honored Traditions", with an array of seasonal d├ęcor.

"I said: 'I'm first Trump lady".

On Thanksgiving Day, Trump did her part to give back and served dinner to U.S. Coast Guard members stations in Riviera Beach, Florida, which is close to Mar-a-Lago, where the family spent the holiday weekend.

More than 25,000 visitors are expected to tour the White House for the holidays and the kitchen is ready: 31,000 cookies have been baked, including 15,000 sugar cookies, many of which end up in purses for the trip home.

The official White House Christmas tree is in the Blue Room.

The highlight is the Christmas Tree which has come from Endeavor, Wisconsin.

The White House staff had help from more than 150 volunteers from 29 states to hang 71 wreaths and decorate 53 trees.

For the several thousand guests who would be visiting the White House during the month-long Christmas celebrations at the White House, as many as 36 chefs and pastry chefs have been pressed into service.

In the State Dining Room sits a gingerbread house made with more than 200 pounds of gingerbread dough, 100 pounds of pastillage dough, 20 pounds of chocolate and 20 pounds of royal icing. "Visitors are encouraged to write a message to their loved ones who are on duty or overseas on the digital tablets provided".

The White House Green Room honors crafts, paper and classic design - and the Library features President Franklin D. Roosevelt's edition of A Christmas Carol. She is now promoting her memoir Raising Trump which details how she brought up her three children with her then-husband. For anyone missing the White House's former occupants, the Obama family's message appears in a display of presidential holidays cards.
