The state registered 2,299 cases of murder, which was the third highest, and 4,189 cases of rape, also the third highest. The numbers of cities followed a similar patter, with Lucknow reporting the highest number of atrocities reported among the 19 metropolitan cities, and Patna and Jaipur following. For other offences, such as traffic challans, NCRB will provide separate data from next year.
