Penn State football is Fiesta Bowl bound to take on Washington

Just not in Arizona.

Penn State has played in the Fiesta Bowl six times in history and won in all six appearances. They earned the final New Years Six bowl bid by virtue of finishing No. 11 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

No. 9 Penn State (10-2) will play No. 11 Washington (10-2) in the Fiesta Bowl, scheduled for 4 p.m. December 30. Washington, which had only one loss, edged Penn State, which had two.

Most expected the Lions and Huskies would play in the Cotton Bowl.

Penn State and Washington both finished the regular season with a 10-2 record.
