Ohio State upsets undefeated Wisconsin, Clemson pummels Miami

In 2014, a red-hot Ohio State team routed Wisconsin 59-0 in the Big Ten Championship Game and rode that momentum to stun No. 1 Alabama 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl semifinal and dominate No. 2 OR 42-20 in the championship game.

Less than a week removed from knee surgery, quarterback J.T. Barrett accounted for three touchdowns for Ohio State, which amassed 449 yards of offense and was able to overcome three turnovers. Trailing by six points with less than three minutes on the clock, Wisconsin took over the the ball at its own 29-yard line, but failed to score a touchdown to steal the game.

Moving somewhat gingerly in the pocket, the senior signal-caller tossed a pair of interceptions-including a first-quarter pick-six and a costly third-quarter duck that flipped field position and paved the way for the Badgers to trim the deficit to 24-21 with 12:39 remaining in the fourth.

Ohio State basketball will be without sophomore center Micah Potter indefinitely due to an ankle injury, head coach Chris Holtmann said in a statement on Monday.

Wisconsin, which got on the scoreboard on Andrew Van Ginkel's nine-yard interception for a touchdown in the first quarter, went into intermission down 21-10 after Rafael Gaglianone's 28-yard field goal with 3:42 remaining in the second quarter.

With Potter out, Wesson is the only healthy center on Ohio State's roster.

Two drives later, UW surrendered yet another massive gain when Ohio State freshman running back J.K. Dobbins shook off a tackle at the line of scrimmage before running 77 yards to the Badgers' 1-yard line.

And unlike Ohio State, the Nittany Lions and the Cardinal each had one loss by single digits.

The Badgers and Buckeyes are playing for a possible playoff ticket. Hornibrook passed for 238 yards and two interceptions. On paper, their argument looked pretty good.

The Badgers are not only looking to clinch the Big Ten Championship title, they're also hoping to lock down a college football playoff spot.

"I think our strength of schedule, quality wins is phenomenal", Meyer said.

Surprisingly to many, it was the Crimson Tide that got the final spot over Ohio State.

"Every team has that hiccup", McLaurin said. If reason were to follow, the Buckeyes win in the conference title game would have created the separation necessary to get them in. 2 Oklahoma and a 31-point road loss to Iowa. The undefeated Badgers entered the contest as an underdog to the uber-talented Ohio State team and each program could have made a case to be included in the Playoff field entering the game.

Finishing the season ranked fifth, the Buckeyes will take on the eighth-ranked USC Trojans in the Cotton Bowl on December 29th at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN.
