Murphy Announces McCarthy Extension

The deal was never announced by the Packers, but it means McCarthy is now under contract through 2019.

More importantly, the one-year extension ensures McCarthy won't go into next season as a lame duck coach. As a result, there are expected to be a bevy of changes to the Packers' organization this offseason. He replaced Mike Sherman as GM for the Packers in 2005.
