Jerry Van Dyke dead at 86

The star, who is the younger brother of legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke, was with his wife Shirley when he died at his Arkansas ranch on Friday, TMZ reported.

His wife Shirley, who was with him when he passed away, said his health had been deteriorating ever since they were involved in a auto accident a couple of years ago, TMZ reports.

It wasn't until he landed the role of Luther on Coach in 1989 that he gained prominent fame.

In his final TV role in 2015, Jerry Van Dyke reprised his role on "The Middle", guesting alongside his brother, Dick.

Van Dyke's wife, Shirley, confirmed her husband's death to TMZ. Jerry, you were hilarious and terrifically talented - what an honor to be able to watch up close as you and your brother create your special magic. His daughter Kelly Jean tragically passed away in 1991.
