CBS anchor John Dickerson of "Face the Nation" will co-host "CBS This Morning" following the ousting of Charlie Rose over allegations of sexual misconduct, The Huffington Post reports.

Dickerson also joins veteran broadcaster Christiane Amanpour in the elusive Charlie Rose replacement club.

In a statement, CBS News chief David Rhodes said, in part, "John's impressive track record and strong all-around journalism extends our commitment to real news coverage", adding that incumbent co-hosts "Gayle [King] and Norah [O'Donnell] continue to show tremendous leadership on our morning broadcast each day".

"This Morning" has the smallest audience of the three main morning shows on USA broadcast television with a daily audience of about 3.6 million. He will continue hosting Face the Nation at least through the weekend as Rhodes and executive producer Mary Hager determine what's next for the Sunday show. On Tuesday morning, CBS Evening News anchor Jeff Glor joined the show. He will join Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell on the A.M. franchise. CBS is third behind NBC's "Today" and "Good Morning America" in viewership but has made steady progress in ratings and reputation since it was launched with Rose, O'Donnell and King six years ago.

"Today is our sixth anniversary". "I've worked alongside John for nearly 20 years, and this is a great way to continue our mission of putting the news back in the morning".

He said that he'll be in Washington later this week to begin the process of finding Dickerson's replacement there. Dickerson is a familiar face to the CBS audience as he entered the network in 2009 and spent his time working on the politics beat, where he covered several presidential campaigns and moderated two presidential campaigns for the network.

Dickerson, now host of the long-running Sunday public affairs show "Face the Nation", will "transition off" that program in the coming weeks, then a successor will be named, according to CBS.
