Liverpool not planning January offer for Arsenal target Thomas Lemar

Liverpool have been linked with French global and Monaco star Thomas Lemar and the rumors have gathered pace since the departure of Coutinho from the Anfield club.

Lemar was the subject of huge interest during the summer transfer window and Premier League outfit Arsenal were believed to have offered around £90million to acquire his services.

But given Lemar was a target for Liverpool towards the end of the summer transfer window, it seems likely he would remain on the radar following Coutinho's exit.

Lemar would be a natural replacement for Coutinho but Liverpool FC could be forced to pay over the odds for the talented France attacker given Monaco will be aware of the Reds' inflated transfer budget. In a bid to maintain the attacking prowess Liverpool are determined to get Lemar but are yet to formally bid for the player.

Now, the Monaco boss has told reporters that there could be some movement before the month is out.

And according to the Mirror, Monaco would be seeking an eye-watering fee of at least £90 million if they were to sell the 22-year-old.

"So for Monaco, and I'm not saying they might still sell him now, but for them it would make no sense whatsoever to do so and that's why they're saying, one and off the record: "We don't usually sell in January, especially not our big players".

"And, for Lemar, it's a risk to go to Liverpool right now in the way that, at Monaco, he would play every single game".

"So certainly you're leaving a club where you're gonna play every week, where you're the star, where the France head coach is there". Jardim has claimed that many things could happen in January and has kept the door open for Lemar sale.
