Getting Naby Keita now takes pressure off Liverpool transfer business

Barcelona have completed the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool for a total of €160 million.

Leipzig faces a battle for Champions League qualification, sitting fifth in the Bundesliga ahead of the return from a mid-season break.

Although Coutinho will no longer be able to provide the trio with ammunition, they still have the speed and guile to trouble Pep Guardiola's side at the back.

Liverpool agreed a £55m deal last summer for the 22-year-old Guinea star to join on July 1.

"It happened at Liverpool".

According to Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph, Liverpool want to tie Roberto Firmino down for the rest of his playing career with the Brazilian's current contract expected to expire in 2022.

Barcelona went through a similar ordeal six months ago after signing Ousmane Dembele from Borrusia Dortmund last summer.

In Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain, Klopp has players who will offer less in attack than Coutinho but will work harder and allow Liverpool to retain a better defensive shape. Forwards and midfielders are undoubtedly the most popular players of all the big teams and it is no surprise to see their market value at such high prices.

In the 13 league games since then, Liverpool has won nine and drawn the other four.

It has been widely reported since Coutinho's transfer that Liverpool is desperate to bring the RB Leipzig midfielder to England in this transfer window - he is now due to join in the summer for a £57m fee.

Keita's form has also noticeably dipped this season and there have been accusations that he lacks motivation, while he has also made it known to the club that he wants to leave.

The absence of Coutinho this weekend will only help that quest.
