Officers could not confirm if Whitall, who also died at the scene, had been using his mobile phone at the time of the crash, according to the Daily Telegraph.

News Limited outlets reported that the Summer Bay star's life support was switched off on Thursday night, more than a fortnight after the horror crash.

Yet that didn't stop Whitall from getting behind the wheel and in 2004 he was jailed for driving while disqualified. In July 2011 he was behind bars once more, this time for nine months for the same offence.

Channel 7 reporter Samantha Brett wrote on Twitter, "Heartbreaking as life support for Jessica Falkholt is turned off a day after her family was farewelled".

Doctors have performed multiple surgeries on the 29-year-old Falkholt - including reportedly removing a portion of her skull and one of her kidneys - in an effort to save her life.

Ms Falkholt's heartbroken relatives had kept a vigil beside her hospital bed hoping for a speedy recovery.

The 29-year-old has been fighting for life in St George Hospital since she was pulled from the wreckage, along with her sister Annabelle, 21, on December 26 near Ulladulla.

Home And Away actress Jessica Falkholt has died in hospital, just one day after the funeral of her parents and sister.

The family's auto was hit by a four-wheel drive, incinerating both vehicles, and parents Lars and Vivian died at the scene.

Vivian Falkholt's brother Paul Ponticello spoke at their funeral, saying he thought he and his sister "would grow old together".
